What the hell! I just got my salad!

We know what you are thinking – that’s an interesting title; but what does it mean?

Here it goes. s@mple is an international small plates restaurant. Small plates, in this case, are sophisticated cuisine in medium sized sharable portions. Small plates have the ability to serve and satisfy many people at once. That’s not to say that you can’t have them all to yourselves, it just means that they’re designed to be shared easily.

That being said – the common dining practice is to have your food served as it’s ready. This means that when the kitchen receives an order, they immediately start preparing each dish. When a dish is completed, it goes into the window. Very shortly after being placed in the window, servers are instructed to bring them to your table. Food is almost always best when served as soon as it is plated – as it was made just then, just for you. Taking into to consideration these reasons and depending on what’s going on in the kitchen at that time, it’s entirely possible that a larger small plate (say, Ribeye) could arrive to the table quicker than your salad (say, Farmer’s Basket).

“What the hell! I JUST got my salad” – you might think to yourself, but you shouldn’t!

Our servers are trained to send orders to the kitchen when their diners would like them. So if you are more comfortable with the traditional restaurant dining experience wherein you order soup, salad, appetizer, then entree (or any selections therein in that order), we can certainly accommodate you! Upon seating at s@mple, our servers will give you a brief run-down of how the menu works as well as some common dinning scenarios.  Depending on how you choose to dine, the server will put in your order accordingly. Saying things like “I’d like to start with”, or “first I’ll have the farmers basket salad, then the…” are indicators to let our servers know that they should take care in coursing out and properly firing your dish!

Another way you may dine at s@mple is the easy way – go with the flow. Order first a few items from the menu (any category), and then think about what else you’d like as the food comes out. It’s important to note that food is served quite fast here and you may expect dishes to be ready often times in as little as 5 to 10 minutes! Once you’ve tasted a few things – order more! Rinse (drink) and repeat as desired.

s@mple is a unique and customizable dining experience, not just a meal.

It is definitely #timetocomein #rva – @samplerichmond
